If the reason you haven't tried Cannabis-based medication is because you're afraid of its potential psychoactive effects or the fact that Cannabis isn't illegal in your area look no further than CBD.
To understand CBD oil and Its benefits you must first understand what it is; it stands for Cannabidiol and it's a derivate of the Cannabis plant. Hemp, to be precise. Unlike THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), which is present in Marijuana and is the ingredient responsible for the psychoactive effects. Cannabidiol is not psychoactive and won't send you on an unhinged trip. In fact, this compound counteracts THC's high and balances it's psychotropic effects.
We've touched on this compound before, but only on the surface and I'd like to expand on it here, because CBD is truly god-sent if you are trying to quit smoking or suffer from PTSD or anxiety. I personally use it and have no complaints. And although I, personally have experienced no side-effects whatsoever, it's supposed to have some, so it's recommended that you check with your physician before you start a treatment. Just make sure it's not one of those pill-pushers, because they'll most likely recommend some opioid crap instead. But make no mistake, any potential side effects or risks that come with taking CBD, are overshadowed by the dangers of opioid-based medication.
CBD Oil And Its Benefits
Even though I might start sounding like a snake oil salesman, I can't stress enough the many uses of CBD oil, one of them being as an epilepsy medication. Countless cases have been documented and recorded on tape, showing patients being treated with Cannabidiol to successfully reduce and/or control severe seizures. In fact earlier this year, a 12 year old boy had his CBD-based medication confiscated at the Heathrow International Airpot, in the UK, moments later the kid suffered from debilitating seizures that put his life at risk. It is clear that society has a long way to go before this compound is widely accepted but we can start by spreading the word about its many benefits and uses, such as:
Quitting smoking and drug withdrawals
PTSD and anxiety
Epilepsy and other mental health disorders
Helps fight cancer
Type 1 diabetes
Alzheimer's disease and Dementia
Sleep disorders such as insomnia
And these are only a few of the key benefits of Cannabidiol, there are many more. Despite all this and the thousands of documented cases and scientific evidence, CBD oil is not backed by the FDA, nor recognized as a medication. In fact it's not even legal in all states, which is a god damn tragedy considering how cheap it is and all the ailments it can treat. Not to mention its track record versus opioid-based medications, which claim thousands of lives each year from overdoses and hardcore addiction. It's sad, really.
