If you are mad at the Trump administration for whatever reason, you are not the only one. Many people agree with you, but last week Snoop Dogg, the famous raper and Marijuana supporter made a video lashing out at Donald Trump about the government shutdown that begun on December 22nd, 2018 because Trump made a childish tantrum when he didn't get his way, resulting in many unpaid employees. In the video, Dogg tells the American people, specifically those unpaid employees affected by the government shutdown not to ever vote again for Trump or anyone with his political views. Snoop Dogg, who had made a music video in 2017 called "Lavender", in which he shoots a toy pistol at a clown-faced effigy of Trump was angry and displeased at him for the mistreatment of the affected government employees and voiced his concerns in a profanity-filled video.
Now, while the music video is not a great way to criticize a lousy president or an inept administration and objectively went "too far" with his criticism, mainly 'cause it could result in a real-life assassination if the wrong person sees it, Snoop Dogg has a point. Trump's ass-backwards political views and racist policies are hurting not the imagined "enemies" he's trying to fight, but the very people who voted for him, the American people.
This of course is not the first time Trump's poorly-thought policies have hurt unintended targets, as only last year a 92-year old man was beaten to a pulp by Trump supporters for being an immigrant, or the fact that to this date almost all his elected cabinet has been fired or has resigned, objectively not the hallmark of a capable president. He obviously has no idea what he's doing and is getting the hate that he deserves for it, this goes beyond partisan favoritism, which is what most people associate it with. It's not about republicans or democrats, it's about doing a good job, if he's not doing one he should called out and that's what Mr. Dogg is doing, albeit with the wrong kind of vocabulary and visual aids.
And not to say that everything in the Trump administration was bad, he did after all back a Federal cannabis legalization bill, for example but at the end of the day the bad vastly outweighs the good and I think it's time to start looking objectively at the real results and scandals and not at the political affiliation.
And in case you were curious, here's the video about "Lavender":
