At this point I feel like this is just cruelty. 'Cause this wonderful plant has done nothing but good for humanity, and yet it's illegal and demonized. And I get that Cannabis has some psychoactive effects and might -in some cases- incapacitate the user in a similar way that alcohol would... but... What else? I mean, worst case scenario you get high. It's not like you will try to squeeze the bees out of your teeth like with Crystal Meth, or outrun a train by foot like with Cocaine, or eat someone's face off like with Bath Salts and I'm sorry I keep comparing Weed to Alcohol. They're nothing alike, but when it's all said and done, that's the closest I can think of to a "legal" drug in terms of effects. But again, Alcohol, for example has little to no health benefits. I mean, sure, the resveratrol in wine or the misc. nutrients in beer, but again, there's no booze that can treat dementia, cancer, anxiety and PTSD and in fact, most likely it can exacerbate those ailments. I'm not trying to demonize alcohol either, to be clear. I myself enjoy the ocasional glass of booze, but time and again, Cannabis has been proven to be safer than alcohol, yet it's illegal, and for no better reason than... A political agenda?
The Real Reason Why Cannabis is Illegal
Yes, folks sadly that's all it boils down to. You see, back in the Colonial days, weed was legal and fine. Somewhat controlled, but legal nonetheless. It wasn't until America's industrial machine started to develop and grow that Marijuana and its non-psychoactive cousin the Hemp plant started to become a threat to the industrial complex. DuPont was one of the first ones to realize Hemp could mean some serious competition, and it was closely followed by Big Pharma, which back then, I'm assuming it was "Small Pharma". On the other hand, Alcohol prohibition had just ended and it was a MASSIVE failure, so the government had an entire department of thugs and spooks devoted to prosecute alcohol that were now unemployed. And then there was the new minority in town; Mexican refugees, who came to America running away from the Mexican Revolution and some of them were using Cannabis to relax after work, as you do, which made them the perfect target for prosecution and discrimination, since they were the new kids on the block.
So a guy by the name of Harry J. Anslinger, who was the head of the new Federal Bureau of l̶i̶e̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶d̶e̶c̶e̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ Narcotics made a dirty smear campaign based on lies and discrimination to tarnish the public opinion about weed (You might have heard of it in the form of "The Reefer Madness" movie) and that was the start of it all. And all because of corporate greed and racism. Fast-forward to 2018 and there's still idiots who believe that hogwash. Truly depressing.
But... Not all is lost. People are waking up more and more to these lies, realizing the truth and talking more and more about this topic. The evidence can't lie and truth will eventually spread like wildfire. But don't believe me. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH, find out more about this and tell everyone.
